The mixed media piece, Point C is a response to civilizations and the development of societies based on one of the fundamental needs of survival – water.  Mapmaking, systems, structures are a source of inspiration, as I am attracted to the sociology and rationale of how communities are built.  I find it fascinating how much emphasis is placed on the aesthetics and functions of architecture, transportation, and public land space from the ground up during urban planning.  When planning a city, or as a city grows, do people consider the bird’s eye view?  I am not sure?  Regardless if that is taken into consideration, the topography of a city system, it is quite amazing.

If one views the world separate from the underlying meaning of the subject they are viewing, it is difficult to find ugliness.  Have you ever tried to capture something ugly?  It is nearly impossible.  Often it is the intentions or primary meaning created by humans that makes something ugly, not the object or place.

A joy I find in being an artist is the inventive element of creating my own systems, structures, and stories: the freedom of visually working through the what ifs.  Point C is an extension of an earlier mixed media piece Point B.  Point B is a literal translation that takes me from point A where I live in Tremont, IL to point B - Peoria, IL: a place of good food, entertainment, and galleries.  Point C takes me one step further than Point B; my imagination and invented urban planning
